A reconstructed lecture-room of the "Electrical machine" department was inaugurated at the St. Petersburg State Technical University (CPbGTU). It is already the second room, renovation of which was financed by the JSC "Electrosila", within the comprehensive educational program of the Power Machines Group.

"The most attractive and prestigious contracts might have to be abandoned if young people fail to join the industry", - said the General Director of the "Power Machines Group" Evgeny Yakovlev. In this connection the directors of the enterprises that make up the Group, agreed to support the
St. Petersburg Technical University, the St. Petersburg University of machine construction, the electrotechnical college and the grammar school, in other words the educational institutions that cater to the needs of power industry.

According to the project of the lecture-room reconstruction at the CPbGTU in addition to renovation and decoration, the room was fitted out with modern furniture, colour posters of electrical machinery. In future it is planned to install in it the required computers as well as other office equipment, which will facilitate experiments, paperwork for diplomas and dissertations.

As stated by General Director of the JSC "Electrosila" Ravil Urusov "Electrosila is "indebted" to the Polytechnic, because the department of electrical machines is the main source of the workforce for the enterprise, the majority of the specialist at Electrosila are its graduates.

In future the enterprise is planning to keep up these relations  and give support to implementation of new information technologies and technical modernisation of the department, that educates a new generation of engineers and strengthens the scientific potential of Electrosila.

The project for support of the CPbGTU started in the middle of the last year, when the enterprise carried out major repairs of the lecture-room of the department "Plastic processing of metals, composites and powered materials". Electrosila presented testing and laboratory equipment for practical classes to the university.

Another company of the Power Machines Group – the enterprise Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod is also actively developing the program for support of the specialised universities and technical colleges. In 2001 the plant signed the contract with the technical colleges and the St. Petersburg university of mechanical engineering. According to the contract senior students go through the period of practical experience at various departments and shops of the enterprise. In addition the enterprise presented a modern computer class to the university.
