PRISCO

November 12, 2003

Always in clients' interest

Agency Service of Primorsk Shipping corporation arranged the repairs of the engine of the Greek vessel of 35 thousand tons dwt. This common event helped the shipowner to decide the problem quickly and save a considerable sum of money which he would have had to pay as a penalty for undue delivery of oil. Rashit Khaliullin, the Head of PRISCO AGENCY, informed, that a thirty five thousand ton tanker took oil products on board in Nakhodka oil loading base in total for several million dollars and prepared for a voyage. At that time it was found out that the engine of the vessel was defective and needed urgent repairing. The experts representing technical service called to the place of break came to the conclusion that the repair on the spot was impossible and recommended to use other variants. None of the recommended ways to achieve a positive result was possible: the towage to the port of discharge would have cost a fortune and would not have been safe, the cargo transfer would have taken much time as in that case they would have had to wait for a large capacity vessel. The discharge of oil products to the tankage of the oil-loading base was impracticable. The large capacity tanker with a defective engine dropped the anchor in the middle of Nakhodka bay and could become a source of troubles not only for the shipowner but also for a marine town. Within four days, when all variants of solving the problem were considered, the crew consisting from Philippine seafarers, tried to repair the engine on their own. They managed to succeed only with the help of the experts of PRISCO Agency division who involved the heat engineering service of Primorsk Shipping Corporation. PRISCO engineers quickly found the cause of break and the crew with the help of PRISCO consultants quickly eliminated it and started the engine. The vessel left for the port of discharge under her own power. To crown it all, the shipowner managed to avoid possible losses, the environment was not damaged and PRISCO divisions proved to be reliable and universal once again.
