27 January 2006. RAO "UES of Russia" and Germany's Association of the Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry (ZVEI)* have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in developing supplies of advanced electric and electronic equipment.
Under the MoU, the major aspects of cooperation between RAO UESR and ZVEI will include joint efforts to harmonize the technical standards and create product certification procedures for ZVEI member companies supplying equipment for Russia's electricity industry.
Also, the parties stated that it would be necessary to further develop the Information and Trading System "Market for Goods, Services and Technologies for the Electricity Industry - ?2?-Energo".**

* The Association of the Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry of Germany (Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie, ZVEI) unites over 1400 companies whose aggregate annual turnover accounts for over 90% volume of goods and services in the sector.
** The Information and e-Trading System "Goods, Services and Technology Markets for Electricity Industry - B2B-Energo" was created in 2002 to provide procurement services to RAO UES entities. The overall trading volume in the B2B-energo has exceeded RUB24.1 billion since the system's launch. Over the period, over 3,640 auctions and tenders have been announced on the marketplace, and over 11,200 bids and offers have been made.
Today, the B2B-Energo has over 4,350 users. Among them are the major vendors of equipment and technologies for the electricity industry, such as OAO "Power Machines", OAO "ENERGOMASH", ZAO "Krasny Kotelshchik", FGUP "Technopromexport", and OOO "Siemens". Entities from 24 countries are active on the B2B-Energo marketplace.
