New CEO appointed at STC

On December 22 the board of directors of South Telecommunications Company voted in absentia on December 25 to appoint Ivan Fedorovich Ignatenko to the position of chief executive official, who previously held the position of deputy general director of South Telecommunications Company and director of the Kubanelektrosvyaz branch.

Biographical overview

Ivan Fedorovich Ignatenko was born on June 4, 1945.  He holds two university degrees, graduating from the Novosibirsktelecommunications institute with a major in multi-channel telecom engineering (1975) and applied economics (1980).

Mr. Ignatenko has held executive positions in Krasnodar-based telecom concerns since 1992.  In 1999 he was appointed deputy general director of the Krasnodarmunicipal telecom exchange.  Since 2003 until the present time he has been employed as deputy general director of South Telecommunications Company and director of the Kubanelektrosvyaz branch.

South Telecommunications Company is a major telecom operator in southern Russia.  Core operations include providing local intra-zonal telecom services, long-distance and international long-distance telephone services, leasing channels and telematic services, ISP and a whole array of other telecom services. STC has a coverage range of 528,000 km, servicing a population of over 18.6 million.  The number of lines in service is over 3.2 million.

The company’s charter capital is Rub 1,297,779,385, which is broken down into 2,960,512,964 and 972,151,838 preferred shares. The main shareholder of South Telecommunications is Svyazinvest (which holds 50.69% of the voting STC’s voting shares, and 38.16% of the company’s charter capital).
