27 August, 1997 - LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov signed a quadripartite agreement on cooperation with the administration of the Nizhny Novgorod, and with NORSI OIL and car maker GAZ in Nizhny Novgorod yesterday.
The parties have agreed that LUKOIL and NORSI OIL will provide GAZ with oil products and petrochemicals.
The two oil companies will produce and deliver new types of fuels and lubricants for the car plant, including industrial and machine oils, as well as lubricants and coolants.
GAZ and its subsidiaries will make special equipment on wheels and tracks for LUKOIL to be used in oil exploration and extraction.
The signatories also plan to build new and renovate existing gas filling stations, including ones at maintenance centers belonging to GAZ.
The agreement marks one more step in broadening LUKOIL's business partnership with the administration and industrial enterprises of the Nizhny Novgorod region. In Moscow on January 24, 1997 LUKOIL and NORSI OIL signed an agreement on partnership and on ways of enhancing their operation. On November 7, 1996, LUKOIL and the administration of the Nizhny Novgorod region concluded an accord on cooperation in selling oil and petroleum products and in manufacturing oil-production equipment and machines.
"The present event provides proof of broadening contacts between Russian manufacturers," Alekperov said at the signing ceremony.
