GAZPROM

November 24, 2003

Alexander Ananenkov made a speech at the Krakow Mine and Metallurgy Academy

Gazprom’s Management Committee Deputy Chairman, Alexander Ananenkov, presented the speech entitled “Gazprom and the world’s gas industry trends” to the professors and teachers staff and representatives of oil and gas companies at the Krakow Mine and Metallurgy Academy on November 21.

Alexander Ananenkov informed the audience of the world’s gas industry trends. He paid special attention to natural gas consumption growth, gas trade dynamics, deterioration of the quality of the global gas reserves, and development and implementation of advanced technologies.

Mr Ananenkov informed the audience of Gazprom’s strategy for the Nadym-Pur-Taz region development and of the forthcoming initiation of gas production from the Yamal fields (proved gas reserves of the Yamal peninsula are estimated at 10.5 bcm).

Mr. Ananenkov also noted that Gazprom kept on focusing on developing northern offshore fields, primarily, on such large hydrocarbon fields as Shtokmanovskoye and Prirazlomnoye.

Mr. Ananenkov pointed out that Gazprom’s unique experience in the gas industry makes the company a reliable partner for investment companies and banks. To successfully implement strategic projects, the company strives to diversify financial sources, cut costs and increase the maturity period of borrowings.

Mr. Ananenkov and the EuRoPol’s Supervisory Council members met the rector of the Mine and Metallurgy Academy. The parties discussed the issues of sci-tech cooperation and personnel training.
