The document signed by Mr. Barantsev, the OJSC GAZ Director General, and Mr. Lobach, the Minsk Motor Factory Director General, provides for supply of diesel engines to be installed to GAZ medium trucks. On its part GAZ undertakes to supply casting blocks for Minsk engines. The ? 245.7 diesel engine of 90kW (122 h.p.) is equipped with modern turbo charge and air charged cooling systems, is simple and easily maintained, excels petrol engine in terms of fuel economy and operation life. Today the MMZ diesel engine meets Euro1 ecostandards, being currently in force in Russia. By the end of the year, when Euro2 will be implemented, the OJSC GAZ is prepared to switch to making the vehicles that would meet these standards, as modification ? 245.7?2 of the diesel engine has already been developed. The production plan for 2004 provides for manufacturing of 20,000 medium trucks, 12,000 of which are going to be fitted with Minsk engines.
