North-West Telecom has completed a project of Data Processing Centre construction

North-West Telecom JSC has successfully completed a project for the construction of a Data Processing Centre (DPC), a key component of software and hardware architecture required for the deployment and operation of the EPR-system on the basis of Oracle e-Business Suite (OeBS).

DPC is an aggregate of software and hardware and engineering systems making it possible to accumulate, process and store large data arrays created in the course of operating the EPR-system on the basis of Oracle e-Business Suite and to ensure a fully-fledged operation of other corporate information systems existing in the company.

The DPC was designed in OJSC NWT taking into account the requirements of the current and future business processes, volumes of potential information flows, security requirements, number of EPR-system users, etc.

The NWT's Data Processing Centre is based on the technologies of Hewlett-Packard (server systems, data storage systems, file backup systems) and the technologies of Cisco Systems (network interaction subsystem). Its architecture uses an approach allowing horizontal scaling (increasing the efficiency of the complex by increasing the number of servers).

The solutions presented in the project have been developed in compliance with the requirements making it possible to reduce the aggregate cost of owning the hardware and software of DPC and to ensure the preservation of investment in creating the technical architecture of DPC, while ensuring a high reliability and functional completeness of DPC's technical architecture.

The Data Processing Centre ensures a reduction of the cost of owning information systems through the following features:

 - consolidation of data of all basic applications on one equipment, including those working on various operation systems;

 - efficient build-up of the necessary resources under the conditions of introducing new IS and the increasing load on the existing IS;

 - quick adaptation to the changing requirements of business;

 - centralization of information systems management;

 - efficient planning of support service resources;

 - reduction of the troubleshooting time;

 - improved reliability of information systems data storage.

The technical architecture of DPC provides for its possible further upgrading in order to increase the efficiency of DPC, while introducing new systems and building up the capacity of the existing one.
